Here at Runaway Farms, we pride ourselves on the quality care and attention to detail that our staff and facility provides for our clients; both human and equine. When we opened our barn doors in 2002, we knew that people would be impressed by what we had to offer.

After years of boarding at different farms and stables, both private and commercial, we were basically just fed up. No matter where we went, we just could not find a place that met all of our needs as horse owners. First and foremost we wanted our horses to be taken care of properly. We wanted daily turnout in a safe area, a regular feeding program including high quality grains and forages, as well as a knowledgeable staff who would spot problems quickly and fix them. We also wanted a safe and clean stable environment, a nice place to ride and work our horses, and safe places to store our equipment. Of course, we needed a place that had reasonable rates. These requirements became the basis for our operation, and they are what sets us apart from other boarding stables. We put the horses and their owners first! We take our jobs seriously, and do our very best to provide our clients with the quality care, peaceful atmosphere, and safe, clean, and functional facilities that they need. Our philosophy is pretty simple; we give you peace of mind by caring for your horse the way you would if it was your full-time job.

We offer Full-Care Boarding to ensure the health and safety of all the horses under our care. The following services are included under full-care board:

~ Stalls completely cleaned daily, picked throughout the day, and re-bedded as needed
~  Water buckets scrubbed clean and re-filled daily
~  Customized feeding plan created specifically for your horse
~  Three daily feedings on a regular schedule, additional feedings by special request
~  Quality grass hay provided as needed
~  Daily Turnout in groups or in private paddocks (subject to availability)
~  Clean, fresh water always available in turnout areas, hay provided when needed
~  Blankets and boots put on or taken off as needed
~  Supplement Feeding (provided by clients)
~  Basic grooming for health or safety (cold hosing for hot/sweaty horses, dirt removed before blanketing, hooves picked when packed with snow or mud, etc.)
~  Use of farm veterinarian, chiropractor, and farrier by appointment
~  Horses held for vet/farrier/chiropractor by prior arrangement only
~  Administration of occasional medications, treatments ordered by vet, dewormers, vaccines, flyspray, etc (provided by clients)
~  Extensive or long-term care for injury, illness, or recovery should be arranged, and may necessitate additional fees.

We provide 24-hour on site supervision to ensure the safety of the horses, and to provide peace of mind for our customers.

Ridgemor Farm, Inc. is nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. The farm started with the primary focus being promoting and preserving the Cleveland Bay, a rare and endangered breed. We hope to do this by showcasing the athleticism and the versatility of the breed in the show ring. We also have Cleveland Bay/Thoroughbred horses for sale, also known as Cleveland Bay SportHorses. These crosses have proven their athleticism in the international arena. We have a very limited breeding program for these SportHorses and hope to begin a limited purebred breeding program as we develop our farm.

In January, 2008, we expanded our operation by leasing an additional 100 acres one mile from the original farm. . We took over a boarding program in place. In additon, we added a trainer, Joni Scates (formerly Howington), who gives lessons, trains horses, and has horses and ponies for sale. To learn more about her, visit the Training/Lessons link. Tally Mock cares for the horses, which are checked over once or twice a day, depending on their location. Tally is excellent at picking up injuries which helps us provide superb care of the horses. We have a wonderful working relationship with Countryside Veterniary Services who will come out and evaulate an injured or sick horse whenever we need them. Other veternarians are allowed to be used if boarders have a preference. The horses are on a regular worming program and the farrier comes out regularly. We are looking into adding services such as tacking and grooming for interested boarders. We also plan to have Holli Adams, renowned AA circuit hunter/jumper trainer, visit often for clinics.

If your horse could talk he would ask to retire with us!

We have horses retired at our farm from across North America including California, Canada, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and Massachusettes. Why do so many people trust us to care for their horse even when they live so far away?  Because we have transitioned many show horses to retirement, offer a temperate climate, carefully monitor our pastures to allow for excellent grazing almost year round, offer both stall and pasture board, and allow the horses to develop bonds with other horses in small groups as nature intended. Your horse will not be leaving behind his creature comforts either as we blanket and groom all the horses in addition to feeding 2x/day. We also send regular picture and video updates to the owners so they can see their horse routinely and have regular glimpses into their daily lives.

As an owner why would you want to retire your horse with us?

As horse owners ourselves we know all the factors that must be considered when it comes to where your horse will spend his retirement days. We all want our horses to be well cared for and know that their future is secure, but we also want to know that we can afford to provide this for them. We might need to be absentee owners as well, due to work/ family commitments or because our “horse time” is going to be spent with a new horse. We want to make sure our horses are still receiving tender, loving care even if we are not the ones providing it for them.

Paradigm Farms is here to provide you with an economical, guilt free solution to your search for a horse retirement farm.
